This post is more for me, just to remember my thoughts and feelings! No pictures, so it might be a little boring for some of you! But if you want to read a story that touched me deeply, and you want to be touched, then take the time to read it!
It's been a while sense i've been in a church meeting where the spirit is soo STRONG that you could cut through the air with a knife! Well Today was one of those Sundays, and I NEEDED it!!!
We have a family that just moved in across the street, i've seen them around, but have never introduced myself to them. But I have noticed the missionaries over there a couple times. I thought it was cool, but thought nothing more! Well today at church I saw the family there in Sacrament with the missionaries. At first I was getting a little worried, ( this may be a little rude to say, but i don't mean it rude at all) with it being fast sunday, because you can get people up there that cry, and just bare a very strong testimony. Which to us is normal, but i was thinking how they might feel never being to a meeting like that before, they could feel a little akward! It was the most amazing fast sunday ever! The things that were said, i know were inspired of God, because that ONE family being there!
About 4 or 5 people had bore there testimony, and this little boy gets up(hes part of the "investigating" family) and he talks about how he's begged his dad to take him to church for a while now, and how his dad has just kept putting it off, and how one night he was at his basketball game, and the missionaries were there, and they came up and talked to him, and gave him a Book of Mormon.
He said the missionaries have been teaching them, and he had decided to get baptized, and he continued to invite everyone to his baptism this sat! This little boy is maybe 10 or 11. His little testimony was sooo Strong and Simple. It brought everyone in the room to tears!
Well a few more people bare their testimonies. And then the Dad of this little boy gets up.
And he tells us this whole story of how this all came about.
He said they used to live in Penn. and he got a job promotion to come to Utah. Well his friends kept telling him how bad he was gonna hate it here, because of all "the Mormons" So he got a little bit worried, and went and talked to his dad. He told his dad what all his friends have been telling him. And his dad told him not to worry about it. His dad said "do you know who's a mormon?" and he told his dad "no, Who?" his dad said "Steve Young" ( I guess at the time, this guy was a huge football fan)
Well he said that him telling him that kinda eased his mind a little bit.
But he decided to pray for some guidance (he wasn't any kind of religion) Well the Next night he got a knock on the door, and it was 2 mormon missionaries. He of course invited them in, because he had been hearing alot about "the Mormons" in Utah, and wanted to ask questions. Well the missionaries Kind of eased his mind about it again. Well he moved to Utah, and he said that he had Prayed 4 Different times, and everytime within 24 hours missionaries would Knock on the door.
Well this last time he prayed, the Missionaries didn't come knocking on his door. But the Next night while he was at work, he got a call from his son. His son told him that There were some missionaries at his basketball game, and that they invited him to church. His son Begged him to go.
Well he said, he decided to quit being stubborn with the spirit. and take the missionary discussions.
He as well as his 2 sons are being Baptized this Sat.
This family brought the Spirit sooo Strong, and it touched me in a way that I Needed to be touched!
What a special ffamily, and what a special thing that I get to whitness!!
Happy Sunday!!
